Creating an Inexpensive Social Network
Hardware
For my initial prototype I purchased an old IBM 600 laptop for $200.00
and jammed in a wireless card (though some IBMs come with wireless). I
found an old piece of black plastic which I sticky-taped on to cover the
keyboard.
Then I bought a 16 x 20 picture frame, cut the matting to match the
display and drilled a hole in the side so I could turn the display on
and off:
I placed the laptop in the frame and screwed on two backplates. Note
that I added a usb and wireless mouse/keyboard so that I could
develop on it.
